TC Motorsports on The New Jersey Podium
Auburn, WA —Carlo Sparacio, driving the TC Motorsports/ Eprodius.com/ ImageCraftWraps.com Ford Mustang FR500S, finished on the Mustang Challenge podium at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Fellow TC Motorsports drivers Rick Edwards and Ted Anthony, Jr. both finished in the top ten, their best finishes to date.
Coming off a weekend full of problems at Lime Rock two weeks prior, the team rebounded famously in New Jersey.
Team principle Carlo Sparacio comments, “Lime Rock was tough. Our team had our flight cancelled from DC, so we had to drive overnight to Lime Rock and got a little over an hour of sleep before we had to be on track. That morning, our drivers and crew started dropping like flies from a 24-hour flu bug. No sleep and the flu are rough on a racing team, but we still pulled off a second row qualifying and 6th place finish.”
New Jersey would be a different story with a well-rested team of drivers and crew, and a brand new track at which no team had tested or raced. With that, the team was putting down great numbers on track, with Sparacio running in 2nd or 3rd in each session, and Edwards and Anthony running consistently in the top ten.
Sparacio had his best qualifying yet for the Mustang Challenge series with a lap good for a 2nd place start, only 0.161 second off of championship leader and previous teammate Andrew Caddell. Anthony and Edwards also had a great session, qualifying 6th and 7th, respectively.
“We knew going into the race that starting in P2 was not the place to be, and that P3 was at an advantage going into the first turn of the race. The dust and dirt on the outside of the first corner is bad, and there is just no grip out there to hold off an inside attack. We actually considered staging my qualifying to nab a 3rd place starting position, but instead decided to go for the pole. It’s bitter sweet, because we were on the front row for the start, but knew it would not last going into Turn 1. That, and we missed pole by only a tenth of a second!” says Sparacio.
The TC Motorsports team would all finish in the top ten, with Sparacio finishing 3rd, Anthony finishing 8th, and Edwards finishing 9th.
